The compound Japanese word "Kaizen" stems from "KAI" which means "change" and "ZEN" which means "good".
Kaizen can be simply defined as: "The practice of continuous improvement".
Kaizen was first popularised by Masaaki Imai in his 1986 book "Kaizen: The Key to Japan's Competitive Success in 1986"
It is now a commonplace procedure and work ethic in most organisations and is also something that I try to bear in mind when studying. It is recognised to be a vital contributing factor in long term competitive strategy. Some of Kaizen's guiding principals are below:

Whilst this approach is nothing new, and certainly not unique it can be very beneficial to remember the key principles if you ever feel you are treading water. The best poker stables are very good at pushing continuous improvement.

Some are already doing this, others are not. Essentially, if you are not currently improving at poker, you are falling behind the curve of the better players.
